Is there anyway to have roms on a network share but have artwork on the actual pi?

@mitu Not really, I just translated the basic things in the menu. I made those translations for my dad so he can understand what are those things in the menu. I am the one who adds roms, configures the system etc. so I don't really need a full system translation. Anyway, thanks for your help guys. <3

@sad_muso I would add, that it's better imho to edit the global file manually or via the RetroPie menu -> configuration editor (which has some of the settings but allows manual editing also)

Reason being that saving out from retroarch saves every possible setting. All config file "comments" will be lost, and it's a lot of config entries. It won't be easy to know what you have changed if you ever need to check.

But of course you can choose the method you prefer.

I have the same setup as you (mostly) and had the exact same problem. Do what @mitu said, set gpu memory split to at least 256MB.

I was able to edit other gamelist.xml files in each individual roms folders and modify their content. Why would this be unique and not have those values shown? I would at least hope to see the xml have some sort of tag or comment. Then I can go in there and remove them. Is there a way to reset it back to before I scraped it?

@string7th you can put emulation station into kiosk mode and set all the menu options as "hidden" so the retro pie menu doesn't show up. To bring back full menus, you use the konami code. As far as retroarch, open the configs from your network and go to
configs/all/retroarch/autoconfig and open the controller you want to edit. you can just remove the input_enable_hotkey_btn line and that pretty much disables hotkeys for that that controller. If you want to disable all hotkeys except exit, go through the file and remove all the features you dont want like save state and menu toggle, ect.

@m0h most joypad extractions are handled through retropad with retroarch, I know they had some plans at some point to make the retropad more visual but I don't now where they are at with it.

So an update to what I've tried.

I found this post and set the hotkey button to the 10 (xbox guide). I set the menu input toggle to f1 I ran apt-get update / upgrade

None of the above solved my problem. 1 & 2 did indeed change the hotkey button, but only in non 64 emulators and the 3rd one seemed to screw up my controls really bad. So I deleted the cfg's in the hopes it would restore the controls and upon reboot everything was working really funky.

I think I'm going to re-install and try again.

      I'm really confused as:

The documentation doesn't seem to match what I'm experiencing. Changing configurations seems to cause random bugs. No matter what I do I cannot control PSX games.

      This is lunacy.

I will re-install and try again, but does anybody have a dump of working .cfg files for for the xbox 360 wireless remote with dongle? I feel like thats the only way I can confirm this isn't a bug.

Once again I'm running a pi3 with xbox 360 wireless remotes.

@RetroFreak89 Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

you have been asked this before - if you want to get help, you need to provide the information requested in that post.

you can change aspect ratio for retroarch emulators from the configuration editor - https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Configuration-Editor

Have you by chance altered the video mode, resolution, or frame buffer display settings in the run Runcommand menu?
